Mark, a postdoc in Whitehead Institute Member Pulin Li’s lab, studies hormone signaling. “Right now I’m working to understand the impact of oscillating hormone concentrations in the blood — which is a prevalent but little understood phenomenon,” he says. “Current hormone therapies typically ignore this complexity. I’m exploring what effect this has on physiology.” Growing up in the UK, he loved sport and wanted to be a professional athlete, but realized he lacked the requisite talent. “Still, these days, I regularly play soccer with a group of MIT postdocs. It’s been a good way to create a community and meet new people.”
